Terms of use
Last updated 26 August 2026
Draft, pending legal review. This describes how BuildATimeline actually works today and is published so you can see what we do with your information. It has not yet been reviewed by a solicitor, so treat it as a statement of practice rather than a finished legal agreement.
What this is
BuildATimeline is a planning tool for weddings — guest lists, RSVPs, seating charts, day-of timelines, budgets and the documents that go with them. These terms cover your use of it. By creating an account you accept them.
Your account
Keep your login details to yourself; anything done from your account is treated as done by you. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got in.
Your content, and other people's
What you put in stays yours. You grant us only the permission needed to store it and show it to the people you share it with.
When you add other people’s details — guests, clients, vendors — you are confirming you are entitled to. That matters most for contact details and for anything sensitive, such as dietary requirements: those come from real people who have not agreed anything with us directly, and you are the one deciding to record them. Please see our privacy page for what we then do with it.
Share links
Share links, RSVP links and document links work like keys: anyone holding one has the access it grants, without signing in. That is what makes them useful for caterers and relatives, and it is also the risk — send them to the people you mean to, and revoke them when you are done.
Paid plans
Free and Pro plans are described on our pricing page. Pro is billed through Stripe on a recurring basis until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next charge and leaves you on Free at the end of the period you have paid for; we do not pro-rate part-months. If a payment fails we will tell you before anything changes.
Fair use
Do not use the product to send unsolicited messages, to store other people’s data you have no right to, to break the law, or to attack the service or get at accounts that are not yours. Vendor listings are for genuine, published business contact details.
Availability
We work to keep the service running and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will never be unavailable. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — the timeline and seating exports exist partly for that.
Ending it
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend an account that is breaking these terms or putting other people at risk, and we will explain why where we sensibly can.
Changes
If we change these terms we will update the date at the top, and tell you before anything that materially affects you takes effect.
